A linear, yet successful expansion packĪlthough Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith decided not to include any decision making over the course of the campaign and present a very linear storyline, it is still a good and enjoyable game, thanks to the constant action and the solid gameplay mechanics that should make matters more interesting.Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was a heck of a game, and is perhaps solely responsible for a large handful of people becoming fans of the first-person shooter genre. Once you get into the atmosphere of the game, though, none of this should matter very much, especially if you happen to be a big Star Wars fan. However, everything looks very crude and silly now, especially since the textures have not aged very well and the low resolutions cannot handle the size of the modern monitors. Graphically, the game might not turn any heads nowadays, but the engine was quite potent at the time of its release and it can perform a variety of neat tricks. Moreover, it is also possible to employ the power of the Force, which means there are a variety of mind tricks that can come in handy during a battle, although some skills can also be useful in slightly less gruesome manners, such as to solve simple puzzles. Continue the story from the previous episode Hence, it should come as no surprise to see a new title set in this universe, especially if it follows a pretty successful one that's part of the same series.
The Star Wars universe is convoluted enough to allow for a variety of interpretations, since it is based on an extensive lore, with plenty of characters, events and background stories to fuel almost any kind of rendition, whether it's a movie, a book, or yet another video game.
